Kinky Friedman ~ Sold American, 1973 original Vanguard Records LP, $300 + S / H

It was September 10, 1995 in Austin, Texas. On the northeast corner of 6th & Lamar stood the 3 story huge Whole Foods Store which had a book store on the 3rd floor. That's where I had to meet The Kinkster, as he was hawking his latest book, "God Bless John Wayne". As I raced up the stairs with the album you see below & a pocketful of sharpie markers, I saw him sitting at a table with stacks of books to either side of him! No one was there in front of him as he was puffing away on a big cigar (in a No Smoking Austin Building, no less) so I quickly handed him the LP cover & a black sharpie marker, which he signed, biting down furiously on his cigar! But he was quick, deadly quick, and before I could turn around and make my getaway, he quickly signed one of his books and handed it to me. Yessir, he had turned into quite a salesman!
